Time Value of Time
Rethinking Time

If you’ve ever invested money, you’ve probably heard of “Time value of money”. On Investopedia it’s described as “the value of a dollar today is worth more than the value of a dollar in the future".”
The dollar today is worth more than a dollar in the future.
Thinking on this concept further…
What about time?
If there’s time value of money, can there be a time value of time?
Time value of time: where time today is worth more than time in the future.
Bigger question - Is time today worth more than time in the future?
I believe so.
I’m 22. Psychologically, I try to place a premium on that.
The tiny calibrations, tweaks, and changes I do now will compound for me or against me.
Younger versions of myself have done things that have compounded for me or against me. Because of that, I either benefit from the results, or suffer from the results.
Being careful of where I place my time, energy, and attention is ever more important.
Time will move forward.
There’s no stopping time.

We all have 24 hours in a day.
16 waking hours.
365 turns in “the game” every year.
However, we can change that at any time and direct where the current goes.
Every human has variations with their inputs and outputs. It’s all about the process of getting there.
You can get the same results with 9 turns.
You can get the same results with 90 turns.
You can get the same results with 900 turns.
It’s all based on the context of your inputs (time, energy, and attention) and the process of getting to the outputs.
If you’ve fallen off your goals, know that there will continue to be new turns.
Start with (or continue with):
Improving inputs - reclaim time, increase energy, and/or redirect attention
Improving the process - 80/20 Rule: “Is there an easier way of getting the results with the same inputs?”
We don’t necessarily always influence the outputs (subscribers, sales, etc.) which is why it’s a lost effort to focus on things you don’t necessarily control.
But you can increase the probability.
Improving inputs and the process daily will increase the probability of surpassing the goals (outcomes) you’ve set.
In 1,000 parallel universes, you want to be wealthy in 999 of them. You don’t want to be wealthy in the fifty of them where you got lucky, so we want to factor luck out of it … I want to live in a way that if my life played out 1,000 times, Naval is successful 999 times.
You will get a new turn every day.
The worst thing is to stop and get no results.
Keep pushing forward.
John :)
